Catalogue Committee
I decided to join the catalogue committee at the start of the semester to help develop my transferable skills ready for a post-course environment. The first couple of meetings were spent gathering ideas of events or activities we could arrange to raise money for the catalogues such as print sales, bake sales and competitions. We felt like we had planned a lot of activities and the end goal of £3k was manageable as long as everyone put in an equal amount of effort. Discussing our plans over Zoom, we talked to Vicky Carr about the deadlines, layout designs and breakdown of costs so we could ensure everyone involved in the catalogue understands the schedule and goal.
Vicky was very approachable and continuously checks in to see how the fundraising and planning is going so far. I have been appointed main contact with Vicky and she phoned me recently to change the plan for the catalogue. Due to the recent pandemic and the current conflict between Ukraine and Russia, the price of paper has shot up so the original goal of £3k was a lot higher and we were already struggling with the original price. Instead Vicky has found another supplier that stocks similar paper for a lot cheaper so our goal is a lot more manageable at £2k. We are continuing our plans like normal, advertising another bake sale for an open evening at the university, print sale of students work and print auction at a local bar selling professional photographer's imagery.
